Lately, we've been seeing quite a lot of spangly new Resident Evil games which aren't really spangly new at all. The first game was remastered for next gen consoles and PC, prequel Resident Evil Zero just got the same treatment, and a remake for the second was announced to be in the works.
With all of that in mind, there was a lot of speculation about 2016. This is the 20 anniversary of the series, after all, and who the hell knew what special celebration Capcom were going to pull out of their asses to mark it? They've been Resident Evil mad of late.
Then we found out, and it sucked a little. Umbrella Corps is the game coming our way to mark the franchise's milestone birthday. It's a TPS along the lines of the fairly craptacular Operation Raccoon City, and hype is… pretty well non-existent. They've even taken the Resident Evil name out of the title there, which isn't much of a confidence booster.
Still, studly gamer-dudes like us can always appreciate a little guntacular violence. There's a surprising amount of fanservice in Umbrella Corps, too, so it's at least worth a quick ogle at this latest trailer:
It's all looking fairly generic, really, and the zombies seem to just be shuffling through the stages irrelevantly, but there it is.
