U.S. Open Groupings are Announced and Sound Awesome

Whoever the people are who set the opening round groupings for next week's U.S. Open are, they have great senses of humor. No, I'm sure they just want to give the fans the best match-ups. Whatever the case may be, I would like to shake their hands and say thanks.

They paired up bitter rivals Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson for Thursday and Friday, and threw Masters champ Bubba Watson into the group for good measure. Do they want the entire gallery to follow one group? That's going to be some good must see TV right there.

Despite how they act in public (see above) Tiger and Phil don't like each other at all, well, if the multiple reports and stories saying so are to be believed.

Anyway, they tee off on Thursday at 7:33 am Pacific, which in San Francisco should be nice and warm, and probably not foggy at all. Hopefully it actually is hot, since that makes the brutally tough U.S. Open courses even harder. There's really nothing better than to see the best golfers in the world struggle to make par and then complain about how unfair the course is.

And I'm not sold on Tiger being the favorite either, I went down that road before and got burned. The U.S. Open is always way too unpredictable, which is also a good way to describe Tiger's game. After he won the Arnold Palmer Classic, he was terrible at the Masters, and everywhere else until he won the Memorial last week.

Can't wait for Thursday.

Here's the entire list of the groupings for rounds one and two.
