To paraphrase the great David Wooderson, Tom Cruise keeps getting older, but his movies stay the same age. Seriously, this is the sixth Mission: Impossible movie and it reeks of "more of the same" syndrome. Now, I probably said the same thing about the trailers for Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation, and those both turned out great, but I look at the trailer to this and think, "Haven't I seen this movie already? Like, a half dozen times."
The creative team behind the last M:I movie is back for Fallout, so it stands to reason we should expect a similar feeling movie, but this just feels like a mash-up of action movie clichés tied together by Tom Cruise falling from things. And it's time to broach the subject about that mustache on Henry Cavill. I cannot WAIT to find out what integral reason there was for him to have the mustache, rendering him unable to shave it for Justice League reshoots.
So yeah, I'm sure that all the Mission: Impossible-heads out there are going nuts over this new trailer, but for a casual fan of the franchise like myself, it mostly makes me go, "Meh." Whatever, wake me when they release the "Screaming Tom Cruise Only" cut of this one. Mission: Impossible—Fallout opens on July 27.
