Today In Japanese Perversion: Festival of the Steel Phallus

One doesn't want to be too much of a cultural chauvinist. Different cultures have traditions that may seem strange to us here in the United States. There are certainly many things about the Japanese culture that are amazing and beautiful. But then they are also into octopus porn and vending machines full of dirty panties. This juxtaposition of beautiful culture and kinky weirdness come together in a sublime way in the Festival of the Steel Phallus. It is exactly what it sounds like. It is a Shinto festival in which the phallus, (that's fancy talk for a dong), is celebrated. People carry large phallic symbols and pray to them, etc. They are commemorating the generative properties of the tallywacker and its power. Where it gets weird is the extremely popular phallic lollipops that everyone sucks on. Imagine thousands of Japanese schoolgirls and dudes with goofy haircuts sucking on candy dongs. 

Maybe I'm just not comfortable in my masculinity, but I would personally not want to suck on a lollipop that looks exactly like a penis. Maybe this is a problem with me. I'm going to have a think.
