Tim Tebow vs. Mark Sanchez and the NFL’s Hottest QB Battles as Camps Start

Here we go. Training camps are starting and that means the arms races are about to begin. For most teams, there are no QB battles. Petyon Manning is going to start in Denver. Guys like Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Ben Roethlisberger and many more know where they stand. But there are also plenty of QBs who are fighting for the number one spot. We'll get to see Miami's QBs go at it on HBO.

The most talked about battle is in New York, where the Jets plan on using two quarterbacks. So are Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow really battling, or just trying to figure out how to get along? Will Colt McCoy get pushed to the Cleveland sidelines in favor of 28-year-old rookie Brandon Weeden? Time to look at the brewing QB competitions around the league, so let's go!

New York Jets - Mark Sanchez vs. Tim Tebow

The Jets are already on record with their two headed attack plan. Tebow will come in for red zone situations and other special formations. Sanchez is the starter. This will be the most scrutinized QB battle in the league, and the most talked about. That's no big secret. Just how long the two headed approach lasts is the question. If Sanchez struggles early, do they make the move? It'll be fun to watch, that's for sure.

Seattle Seahawks - Tarvaris Jackson vs. Matt Flynn 

Seattle signed Matt Flynn to a three-year deal laden with incentives, so maybe they weren't completely sold on him. Flynn threw for a Packers record 480 yards in a pretty meaningless game last season, and that was nearly half his career yardage total. So here's ten million bucks guaranteed! Tarvaris Jackson might not be a star, but he's got a lot more games under his belt and threw for more than 3,000 yards last season. But money plays in the NFL, so expect Flynn to start.

Tennessee Titans - Matt Hasselbeck vs. Jake Locker

Tennessee is in a tough spot. On one hand they have 36-year-old vet Hasselbeck, who threw for 3,571 yards last year. On the other, they have 2nd-year guy Jake Locker, who is supposed to be their next star. They don't need to hurry Locker along, but what's the point of sticking with Hasselbeck and losing? Hasselbeck will most likely begin the year as the number one guy, but once Tennessee starts looking like they aren't making the playoffs, Locker will come in and start getting valuable experience as they start thinking about the future.

Arizona Cardinals - Kevin Kolb vs. John Skelton

Arizona brought in Kevin Kolb after he showed some flashes of brilliance in Philadelphia. Kolb couldn't stay healthy, so enter John Skelton. Skelton made Arizona fans wonder if maybe the huge young guy should be the number one dude in town, but he was also wildly inconsistent. Kolb was nearly let go as the Cards pursued Peyton Manning, but the Cards kept him on the roster and so he got a $7 million roster bonus. Again, money plays in the league, so Kolb will start, but he might be looking over his shoulder.

Cleveland Browns - Colt McCoy vs. Brandon Weeden

Colt McCoy was supposed to be the Browns' savior but it looks like the team is having second thoughts. McCoy has had his share of struggles, but nothing out of the ordinary for a young QB. So when Cleveland drafted 28-year-old rookie Brandon Weeden out of Oklahoma State, the thought was that they wouldn't sit the guy because at his age, (29 in October) if he sits he's almost too old to play. It's going to be one to watch, and don't be surprised if McCoy is traded or released before the regular season even starts.
