Polled NFL Players Vote Tim Tebow as the Most Overrated

Now even his peers are piling on Tim Tebow. Sports Illustrated conducted a poll of 180 NFL players, and the New York Jets backup QB/tight end/punt protector was voted the most overrated player in the league. I don't know about that. I mean, has anyone ever said that Tebow was a great NFL quarterback? Is he the player most unnecessarily covered by the media? Absolutely. But you have to be highly rated to be overrated.

It's more likely that the rest of the dudes in the league are sick of hearing about Timmy, and who isn't? The funny thing is that tied for second place as the most overrated is Mark Sanchez. Now that makes sense. Another odd thing is that in a similar poll last year of the top 100 players by the NFL Network, Tebow was rated 95th. It probably wasn't true, but after taking the moribund Broncos on a long winning streak and into the playoffs for a win, it at least had some validity.

I'm not a Tebow apologist, in fact mostly I'm just indifferent about the guy. He plays hard, and he does whatever's asked of him. I just don't think anyone should ask him to be a starting QB. That said, I do think that the Jets have a great shot at losing at home to Miami this weekend, and the calls for Tebow to finally get his shot are going to get louder in New York.

And now that Sanchez and Eva Longoria have broken up after a three month fling or whatever, his head may either be clearer and more focused, or he may be in a funk. According to TMZ, the couple broke up because the Jets lose a lot and Sanchez was always in a bad mood because of it. This should be a fun watch on Sunday.
