In some respects it must be great to be Tim Tebow; successful, good-looking (yea, I said it), wealthy, and loved by millions. On the other hand it has to suck to be bashed, criticized, and to have his talent questioned as often as his is. We already told you how the former QB and now broadcaster Boomer took Tebow to task, but here it is again.
I'm just telling you right now, I would [cut him], and I'll tell you why I would. It's not in any way, shape or form — I think — benefiting this team ... All you have to do is watch him throw the ball. Just watch him.
Let's be honest here folks. If someone--anyone--said something like that about us those would be fightin' words; not for Tim Tebow though.
I've heard nothing but great things about Mr. Esiason. I know he was a great player here, and I just wish him nothing but the best in his announcing and God bless him.
Rather than give Boomer a piece of his mind he complements him. For most of us it would be a tongue-in-cheek compliment, but for Tebow the compliment is legit.
Tebow went on in his statement to talk about how he's always been questioned at every level of the game, but has always managed to prove the doubters wrong. While he has yet to be named the best player in the league (like he was in college) or win a championship (like he did in college), he has shown a lot of the qualities that could very well make him a champion at the professional level as well (something Esiason never accomplished).
Boomer is right; Tebow's throwing style is a little unorthodox. However, his ability to play football, his leadership skills, and his never-say-die attitude are unmistakable. While he does look less than adequate at times as Boomer pointed out (and like many QBs in the NFL), he knows how to win games. Let's compare:
How you get there doesn't matter Boomer; the key is that you do. Tim Tebow may not be pretty all the time when he plays, but he does one thing very well that is more important than how pretty a pass looks--he wins.
(Take a listen to Boomer's comments for yourself.)
