I didn't play World of Warcraft back in the day. I was in college when it came out and had better things to do like touching vaginas. But I certainly had many friends who wasted hours, days, weeks, months playing it. I tried to play it once and just ran around a town for like ten minutes, got bored, and got on with the rest of my life. Now, many years after its peak popularity wained, Hollywood created a World of Warcraft movie. It tells the tale of an alliance of humans and orcs(?) against a new foe of some big green monsters. Or something. It just kind of looks like a big CGI mess that mashes together Lord of the Rings with those terrible Dungeons and Dragons movies from the early 2000's. I've said it before and I will say it again, video games should not be made into movies. It never turns out well. Some stories are best told as games, some as novels, and still others as movies. You can't force it.
Well, you can but the result is a turd burger that no one wants to see and those digital effects didn't come cheap. I think I'm going to wait until this comes out on cable and fall asleep on the couch watching it.
