GAMING

As we know, LA’s annual gameapalooza kicks off this month. We’re getting vague hints of developer and publisher lineups, times for shows, there are rumors flying around, critics are pulling predictions out of their asses… it’s that magical pre-E3 time of year.
There’s always a surprise or two to be had at E3. It might be the shock re-appearance of a series we thought long-dead, a new console out of no-freaking-where, or an obscure indie title that steals the show and pisses all the AAA big names right off.
So, my prediction? What would I really like to see? Since you asked (which you totally did, I heard you through the Interweb), I’d like to nurse the ridiculous Bizarro World fantasy that a Dead Space-ish Star Wars game is coming our way. It’s not, and this is complete BS, but we do know that Dead Space developer Visceral Games is cooking something Star Wars up.
Jade Raymond, Group General Manager at Motive Studios and Visceral Games, just dropped a blog about the pair’s current work ahead of the EA PLAY event at E3 2016. Both teams are working on Star Wars releases, as you’ll see if you hint the link, but the most important thing you need to hear is this:
‘The team at Visceral Games is forging ahead into an exciting phase of development. Seeing Amy Hennig lead this team through the creative process has been incredible. She is a rare breed of storyteller, and she’s collaborating with the creative leaders at Lucasfilm to tell a new, authentic Star Wars story. Backed by the talented Visceral team, Amy and studio GM Scott Probst are taking this project in groundbreaking directions.’
So there you have it. If taking this project in groundbreaking directions doesn’t mean Dead Space 4: This Time, It’s Star Wars, with a lot of cleaving Stormtroopers’ limbs clean off with your lightsaber in true Dead Space style (which, as I say, it won’t mean, not even a little bit), I’m going to be a bit put out.
