I remember last year when The X-Files returned after fourteen years off the air and nearly a decade since the last feature film—though the less said about that disaster, the better. It wasn't groundbreaking and it didn't push the form in the way the show originally did, but it was definitely great to see Mulder and Scully back at it. The show will be returning for another abbreviated mini-season early next year, and fans at NY Comic Con got a first look.
The whole gang—meaning David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi, and William B. Davis—will be back for this eleventh season. Perhaps the best news for fans of the series is that Karin Konoval is returning as Mrs. Peacock, the matriarch of the inbred family in the fan-favorite episode "Home." This means that we may be revisiting that storyline, which would be very exciting news indeed.
I'm not sure why Duchovny looks digitally smoothed in some scenes, hopefully it's part of the storyline and not just a bizarre demand from a runaway celebrity. While no return date has been announced yet, the 10th season premiered in late January, so I would expect this to be about the same. As always, we'll keep you posted with the latest.
