The Worst Thing NBC Did During The Olympics

Last night the closing ceremonies of the 2012 Olympiad brought the house down. There was a creepy giant head tribute to John Lennon and performances by Annie Lennox and Queen. There was even a reunion of the still bonerrific Spice Girls. The whole show was slated to close with a medley of songs by one of England's all-time greatest bands: The Who. And then, just like the worst kind of tease, NBC made us all wait an hour to see them. Why? So we could all watch F'ing Animal Practice.

In case you missed this unholy abomination of a show, it stars not-Chris Kattan, Not-Ken Jeong, and not-Mimi from The Drew Carrey Show as a bunch of misfit vets at an animal hospital. It's a show so bad I wanted to stab myself in the scrotum with a screwdriver to distract myself from the pain of having to watch the thing. There has been a lot of criticism over NBC's coverage of the Olympics this year. The time delay, the bad commentary, everything that Bob Costas and Ryan Seacrest did, etc. But this takes the cake. Using the closing ceremonies of the Olympics and the love people have for old farts Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend to cram the fetid horror of Animal Practice down our throats constitutes cruel and unusual punishment.
