Fans of The Simpsons and, or The Hobbit have reason to rejoice. The two pop-culture phenomena have combined in the latest Simpsons "couch gag." The clip, which will air this Sunday, features various Simpsons characters taking on the persona of characters from The Hobbit. For the record, the resemblance between Moe Szyslak and Gollum is uncanny.
The episode, which is ironically titled "Four Regrettings and a Funeral," will also feature a tribute to longtime voice-actress Marcia Wallace, who died last week at the age of 70. Wallace, who was best known as the voice of Mrs. Krabappel, will be honored with a tribute card from the producers. Before the all-new episode, Fox will also air a classic episode of The Simpsons, "Bart the Lover," for which Wallace won an Emmy in 1992. Aside from these tributes, the character of Mrs. Krabappel will also be retired from the show.
