The Rock Johnson has carved out a new identity for himself since moving permanently from the world of professional wrestling into the world of movie stardom. What would happen if he went back to the arena where he first became a household name, though?
The new film Fighting with My Family comes to us from British comedian Stephen Merchant (Logan, Hello Ladies), and stars Florence Pugh (Outlaw King) and Jack Lowden (Dunkirk) as siblings who grew up enamored with wrestling and especially The Rock Johnson, who becomes a mentor to the former when she and her brother score tryouts for the WWE. If the story sounds familiar, you may know that this is based on the true story of WWE wrestler Paige.
The cast is rounded out with Nick Frost and Lena Headey playing the long-suffering parents of the wrestling obsessed siblings, The Big Show as himself, and Vince Vaughn as the WWE honcho who gives her a shot. I have to admit this looks decently funny and that last bit at the end was great.
I didn't know what to think of this when I first heard about it, but the trailer looks better than expected. Fighting with My Family hits theaters on March 1, 2019, one week before Captain Marvel.
