If there's one thing Marvel loves, it's bringing all of their heroes together to form a super team. They started out doing this on the big screen with The Avengers, and now they're bringing all of their Netflix properties together for The Defenders. The hugely anticipated series will bring Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist together to combat a threat in the form of Sigourney Weaver's Alexandra—who many speculate is actually Mephisto.
Of course, the real fun of this series will be seeing the many characters from across these four series coming together in one big rip-roaring adventure, and the two trailers for the show that came out of last weekend's Comic Con show off a lot of them like Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple—who has already appeared in three out of the four series. Of course, the two big reveals are the return of Daredevil Season Two supporting characters Elektra and Frank Castle, aka The Punisher. You can check out Castle's return in the trailer posted above, while Elektra is a big focus of the second trailer below.
Perhaps the only bit of disappointing news is that The Defenders will only be eight episodes long, a break with the 13 episode standard that the other series have followed, but I'm sure they'll be packing an awful lot into those eight episodes. The entire series drops exclusively on Netflix on Friday August 18.
