The TV landscape has changed quite a bit in the last ten years. It used to be that networks began their shows in September and had them end in May. And then to fill up the holes left by cancelled programming, even worse 'midseason' shows would begin around January. Or you could watch Dream On on HBO, but that was about it. But with high-quality cable programming, DVRs, DVD boxsets, etc., there's really no rhyme or reason to when shows begin to air, how many episodes they'll be or how many zombie deaths there'll be per episode.
Midseason still exists and thankfully it isn't just about dusting off pilots that weren't good enough to air in September anymore (of course there are exceptions-coughcoughTheNeighborscoughcough). So even though you suspected there was nothing worth watching until Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead come back, here are the midseason shows we think may be worth setting up a season pass on your DVR for.
