Michael Garcia - March 3, 2016
When I first heard that they were making a reboot of the 80's classic Ghostbusters I was highly skeptical. Not, like some sexist people were, because they rebooted it with an all female cast. That doesn't bother me. What bothered me, at least initially was the very idea of rebooting a classic like Ghostbusters seemed downright sacrilegious to me. This was one of the formative films of my childhood and one of the main reasons that I wanted to move to New York City in the first place. And yet, as time has gone on and I've seen more excerpts from the film, I've started to wonder whether or not I was hasty in my judging the film before I saw it. Today they released the first official trailer for the movie and it actually looks pretty awesome.
The visual effects have obviously come a long way from 1983 but I think what most gives me hope in the trailer is the camaraderie of the four main characters that seem to act as surrogates for the originals. Plus, most of the original cast is coming back in cameo form anyway. Even Bill Murray. So, I'm still a little skeptical but I definitely am feeling optimistic.
