Michael Garcia - April 20, 2016
When I was a little kid, my grandfather and I loved watching old Westerns from the 70's. One of our all time favorites was John Sturges' masterpiece The Magnificent Seven. Like many "spaghetti Westerns" of the time it was basically a remake of a Kurosawa samurai movie, in this case The Seven Samurai. When I heard that they were remaking The Magnificent Seven, I reminded myself that it was a remake any way so it didn't matter. Luckily, judging from this trailer it looks pretty effing badass. The movie stars Denzel Washington playing the Yul Bryner role and Chris Pratt, who is in everything. It also has Vincent D’Onofrio, Martin Sensmeier, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Byung-hun Lee and Peter Sarsgaard.
I'm cautiously optimistic that this movie won't suck. It looks like it doesn't take itself too seriously, which is an epidemic in a lot of modern movies. We'll see.
