As we've seen, the upcoming Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag has a distinctly pirate flavor. (Pirate ‘flavor,' presumably, being a mix of rum, sweat and piss). As Edward Kenway, a privateer from Merry Olde England and Connor's grandfather, you'll cruise about Caribbean islands during the Golden Age of Piracy. You'll also be encountering such notorious nautical assholes as Blackbeard, Ann Bonny and Jack Rackham along the way.

Now, if the Pirates of the Caribbean movies have taught us anything, it's that Johnny Depp can flail his limbs around in an absurd wig and still be entirely irresistible to women. (Damn him and his straggly beard.) But if they've taught us anything else, it's that fairly camp costumes and good ol' fashioned violence is what being a pirate is all about. As the above shows, Black Flag is following that lofty example, with a little extra shark-harpooning fun thrown in.

Take a look.
