So much for getting a six game homestand to figure things out. Mike Brown has been fired by the Los Angeles Lakers after a 1-4 start to a season where they were expected to dominate. Steve Nash has played only a game and a half, Dwight Howard was limited in the preseason after his back surgery, and the team was all learning a new offense. Apparently Lakers execs had seen enough to determine that Brown wasn't the right guy.
I think this is a weak move on the Lakers' part. I keep saying it, but the Miami Heat started off 9-8 in the first year of the LeBron era, and they ended up in the Finals that year. I'm not saying Mike Brown is a great coach but I don't think he got a fair chance at all.
Assistant Bernie Bickerstaff will handle the team tonight. There's already a 'Hire Phil Jackson' movement happening on Twitter, but that's not going to happen. Phil Jackson is not walking through that door, Lakers fans.
