Mark Sanchez is going on the trading block according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, and he says the Jets will also either cut or try to trade Tim Tebow as well. Mehta has been all over every Jets' story this year, breaking most of the news coming from the team, so I'd say he's right on the money here as well.
Neither move would be terribly surprising. Sanchez, despite going to the AFC Championship game in each of first two seasons, has hardly been worth the first round pick the Jets used on him. Sanchez didn't come in and energize the team in those first two seasons, he just kind of was there. Never in his career has Sanchez even approached a 60% completion rate, and over the last two seasons he's just been regressing. The Jets will likely have to pay a large chunk of the $8.25 million Sanchez is owed next season.
Tebow turned out to just be a distraction this season and he was not thrilled with coach Rex Ryan choosing to go with Greg McElroy to start the final two games of the year instead of him. So New York will look completely different next year at the quarterback position. It remains to be seen if they will look different at the head coaching position too.
