The “IT” Remake Is A Go Again But For Real This Time

I've never liked clowns. Maybe it's because when I was really little we lived in Mexico and NOTHING is more terrifying than a Mexican clown. But then, when I was in jr. high, I saw the horrifically terrifying Stephen King's IT miniseries. To this day, at 38, I still stay the F away from clowns after seeing Pennywise do his thing all those years ago. For several years there have been plans to make a two-part movie version of the movie. In 2014, Cary Fukunaga was going to direct but dropped out a few weeks before production was to begin for budgetary reasons. The producers tried to resurrect it a couple of times since then and it seems that their cinematic necromancy has finally worked. Producer Roy Lee said,

"We are very close to turning in the final draft of the script. It's mainly working on it for budgeting purposes to make it fit within the budget that we have. It will hopefully be shooting later this year. We just got the California tax credit."

Well, if they have the tax credit you know it's serious. The two films will be divided, like the miniseries, into one part when the characters are boys and one part when they are adults. Will Poulter had been on board to be Pennywise but it's unclear who will be the evil clown now. Maybe I'm a naysayer, but I doubt highly that anyone can do a better job than Tim Curry. That is one of the greatest horror villain performances ever. But I guess, we'll see...if it really happens this time.
