It's safe to say that The Avengers has been the greatest success of the summer blockbusters. And by raking in over a billion dollars already from around the world Thor, Captain America and friends are now everyone's favourite movie ensemble.
The Amazing Spider-Man will be hoping to rival it's fellow Marvel comic-book in both it's box office receipts and critically reception when it's finally released on July 4th, and it actually seems like the two movies had more in common than people first thought.
Sony and Marvel were looking to connect these two franchises as The Avengers orginally possessed a direct reference to The Amazing Spider-Man, with the Oscorp building being part of Manhattan's skyline. Unfortunately it didn't work out due to time restraints but it's great that such a dialogue exists between the pair.
Of course, hopes have now been raised that these two films can at some point cross over. If so, I think Sony and Marvel might have a bit of a success of their hands.
Apparently Sony approached Marvel with the idea first off and as Peter Parker has been a member of The Avengers in the past fingers are now firmly crossed that we will soon see a cinematic collaboration in the near future.
It'll probably be even better than when The Jetsons met The Flintstones.
