AWARDS
Echo Lawrence - October 15, 2020
The 2020 Billboard Music Awards happened last night at the Dolby Theatre in LA and was hosted by America's Idol Kelly Clarkson for the third year in a row. The show was postponed due to the pandemic so what should have happened back in April finally happened yesterday.
TikTok was the main sponsor of this years awards and held voting through the platform from October 1 to October 13 when the presenters were announced. Addison Rae, Jane Lynch and Nicole Richie were some of the presenters for awards and many about 15 acts performed at the event including Alicia Keys, Sia and Garth Brooks who also took home the 2020 Icon Award.
Demi Lovato performed her song Commander in Chief while playing the piano against the word VOTE, the whole voting thing was a big theme at the BBMAS with Lizzo showing up in a dress printed with the word. Speaking of Lizzo, the singer had a message to her fans:
2020's viral sensation Doja Cat also performed her TikTok hits Juicy, Say So and Like That, while dressed in a short red wig and a sequin bodysuit. I guess the BBMAS didn't get the memo about Twitter cancelling her a few months ago and aren't we glad to see it!
