College football fans are going to be talking about a few things in the days and weeks to come, like what bowl game their favorite team might be playing in among other things. However, this week the talk is going to be all about two things; both of which are directly related. I'm talking about the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide getting handled by the Texas A&M Aggies 29-24 Saturday night in Tuscaloosa.
For the time being it appears as if the SEC might finally lose its stranglehold on the national title game. The Tide have been bumped down to No. 4 in the AP poll with Oregon, Kansas State, and Notre Dame in the top three. All three are undefeated and at least two will need to lose in order for Alabama or even LSU to have a chance at jumping back into the title picture.
All three pretty much man-handled their opponents Saturday. Oregon appeared like it was going to be challenged by Cal, but appearances can be deceiving. K-State did what it needed to do with TCU. Notre Dame's offense wasn't mind-blowing, but the defense has been what's done it for them all season anyway.
However the national title scene plays out there is one thing that we know for certain--the action is only going to get better!
