Ten years ago, one of the most beloved pieces of Star Wars lore kicked off when The Clone Wars debuted on Cartoon Network. The show ran for six seasons and wrapped things up in a mostly fulfilling manner, but there was always room for them to come back to this world if they so chose.
Last night, showrunner Dave Filoni and several cast members including fan favorite Ashley Eckstein took to the stage at San Diego Comic Con to announce that the series would be returning next year with 12 brand new episodes on Disney's new streaming platform. While I never bothered with the show while it was on the air, I've since caught up with it and have to admit that it's infinitely better than the prequels and brings a depth and breadth to this epic event that those films never managed to even hint at.
You've got to admire Disney's tenacity in bringing people over to their new streaming platform, as it will be the exclusive streaming home for all of their films, including the Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars films and TV series. They're really raking us over the coals here, but something tells me this will be worth the price of subscription all by itself. Check out the poster below and let us know if you're excited in the comments section below!
