I have to admit that I haven't seen Hamilton. This in spite of my having been a theater major and the fact that I live in New York. That's because it's impossible to get a ticket. It's sold out a year in advance so unless you want to fork over $500 bucks on StubHub, (which I don't), your only option is a lottery that THOUSANDS of people apply for every day. I'm not standing out in the cold for that mess. It's just a show, people. I've listened to the soundtrack and it's pretty neat, I guess. Hip hop, founding fathers, and international banking. Sure. Yesterday was "Star Wars Day", due mostly to the fact that May the fourth sounds a little bit May the Force. It's all about a bad pun but it's practically a national holiday. So, it was only a matter of time before someone turned Star Wars into a Hamilton-like musical. Written by Nick Jack Pappas and directed by Joshua Sarlo, it's pretty neato.
Have we reached peak saturation of both of these cultural phenomena? Probably. But what are you going to do?
