Six New Clips from ‘The Hobbit’ Provide Seven Minutes of Unexpected Action (VIDEO)

The countdown to The Hobbit continues! Warner Bros. has been releasing content from the movie to amp up the hype, and we think their efforts are working so far. Yesterday, we got our very first look at Smaug the dragon. Today, it's a slew of six clips featuring never-before-seen footage from the film.

And from the looks of it, Peter Jackson made good on his promise to entertain and engage us all with the prequel to The Lord of the Rings.

First up is an action-filled clip of the dwarves fighting off an ugly crowd of goblins, and you can check that out in the player above. When you're done with that, hit the break for five more clips of pure Hobbit awesomeness!

Next, we've got the first meeting between Bilbo Baggins and Gollum:
