Silas Redd Chooses USC Over Scandal Ridden Penn State

Stud running back Silas Redd is leaving Penn State and joining the USC Trojans in what will only bolster USC's chances at being the number one ranked team in the nation in the preseason.

Redd, who led Penn State with nearly 1,200 yards rushing last season, is allowed to play right away instead of sitting out a year. When a school is barred from postseason play like Penn State has been, players can transfer without penalty. Redd has two years of eligibility remaining, but could easily bolt for the NFL if he has a good season in Southern California.

The question now is if this will open the gates for Penn State's other top players to bolt the embattled program. As many as 50 players have said they wouldn't transfer, but who knows how guys are feeling when they see a team leader and top player decide that it's in his best interests to move on.

USC was really thin at running back, so the addition of Redd means that USC should be ready to make a run at the National Championship, after being banned from the last couple bowl seasons.
