Filming for Thor: The Dark World is officially under way! Photos from the set recently hit online and it looks like the sequel's going to be as action-filled as the original movie. I think it's safe to say that we're probably going to be getting more of everything–from fights to explosions to taunts to Kat Dennings mind-blowing cleavage–given the fact that they've already taken care of the back-story and character introductions in the first movie.
The newly-released images show soldiers battling each other to the end, with Chris Hemsworth, aka Thor, looking on from the sidelines. Interestingly, there's also a shot of Hemsworth exchanging a few words with his buff stunt double. Click through the gallery even further and you'll be treated to a few glimpses of Sif, who's played by the very gorgeous Jaimie Alexander, stomping around the set.
As to the particular scene they're filming–well, the production team actually sent out a letter informing residents that they were going to be shooting in the area, and the contents of that letter pretty much explain everything:
We will be establishing a fictional village set in another realm, with yurts and village like dressing in the bowl. The sequence involves a battle between two kingdoms, ending in our comic book hero arriving to save the day.
