If life is all about getting attention than Jose Canseco is on to something because the man knows how to stay in the public eye whether it's appearing on the Celebrity Apprentice, professing his love for Lady Gaga via Twitter, or accusing all his old teammates of doing drugs.
Someone should tell former NFL quarterback living la vida Canseco is not such a good idea because it sure appears that is exactly what the Leaf is doing by becoming a world-class screw up.
The former first round draft pick of the San Diego Chargers has fallen on hard times since he dropped out of the NFL back in 2002. He appeared to be back on track after signing a deal to write three books; the first is already out, 596 Swtich: The Improbable Journey From The Palouse to Pasadena.
His next book may have to be written from a jail cell though after this past weekend. Leaf was arrested on Friday on charges of burglary, theft, and drug possession. After getting released on bond he wasted little time in getting arrested for burglary, theft, and drug possession yet again on Sunday (no bond this time).
Yes, folks, that is not a misprint. The man went out and did it again almost as soon as he got released.
It will not be surprising if this mishap lands Leaf in jail for some time. He was already on probation for several drug charges levied against him in Texas back in 2009 after he was dismissed from his coaching duties at West Texas A&M. Apparently the man has a serious jones for painkillers.
This could actually be a good move for Leaf. The congressional hearings did wonders for the sale of Jose Canseco's book. The more the media follows the downward spiral that is his life, the better his book will likely sell too.
(Anyone remember this classic Leaf meltdown?)
