There are some rumors you just can't take seriously because of the source. This is not one of them.
According to Nikki Finke, the extremely reliable founder of Deadline who is now running a new site called NikkiFinke.com, Warner Bros Pictures is planning to unveil their entire slate of DC Comics movies at Comic-Con next month. And, so far, that slate includes the following schedule:
Batman v Superman (May 2016)
Shazam (July 2016)
Sandman (December 2016)
Justice League (May 2017)
Wonder Woman (July 2017)
Flansh & Green Lantern (December 2017)
Man of Steel 2 (May 2018)
That's one hell of a rumor. But considering the source, you can bet it's mostly true.
At this point, we only know forsure who is playing Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), and Sandman (Joseph Gordon-Levitt). However, we know Jason Mamoa of Game of Thrones fame has signed on to play somebody (Aquaman?), and there have been rumors about Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson taking on a major DC role for ages.
In any case, this is certainly an ambitious slate of movies. And the most interesting thing about it is the fact that poor old Kal-El won't be getting another standalone picture again until 2018, while Ben Affleck's Batman, so far, is absent altogether.
Apparently the secondary superheroes are really going to have to carry their own weight as this franchise off the ground.
