While DC's finally got another smash hit movie on their hands thanks to Aquaman, their primary focus continues to be on expanding their television empire. They continue to grow that portion of their universe at a much faster and robust rate than their movie universe, which is good because they haven't been able to settle on a tone for that particular universe yet.

After introducing her via their Arrowverse's recent Elseworlds crossover event, DC is now giving Batwoman Kate Kane, as played by Orange is the New Black's Ruby Rose, her own TV series. According to TV Line, she's going to be in familiar hands as well...

The CW also announced that Arrow/Flash vet David Nutter will direct the pilot.

Slated for a potential Fall 2019 premiere, Batwoman would follow Kate Kane — the second incarnation of the Batwoman character in DC Comics lore, introduced in 2006 — who is described as “an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter” who is “primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence.”

If Legends of Tomorrow is still on the air, I have no doubt this will find a home as well. Rose does look right at home in that costume, despite it looking like a nipple-less Schumacher-era suit.
