Probably my second favorite actor next to Sam Rockwell, Ben Mendelsohn has been exploding lately. He's been a number of movies you've seen and more than likely caught your attention, but wasn't around long enough to make an impact. Thankfully he's broken out of that rut and is ready to board a third gigantic franchise as a villain.
After playing Director Krennic in last December's Rogue One, Mendelsohn will be playing the villainous Nolan Sorrento in the upcoming Steven Spielberg adaptation of Ready Player One, and is now being looked at to play the main villain opposite Brie Larson in the upcoming Captain Marvel film. According to Variety, Mendelsohn has an edge here since he worked with the film's directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden on 2015's hugely underrated Mississippi Grind.
No word on what the character will be, but it's likely he'll be playing a Skrull so that Marvel can get them into the MCU and then do Secret Invasion, because the only good comic book arcs were in the 2000s apparently. Sorry, didn't mean to go off on a tangent there, Ben Mendelsohn is amazing and will crush it as a villain in a Marvel movie, I just worry he's gonna be known as the perpetual villain. He should play the lovable, Paul Dooley in Sixteen Candles-esque dad in something soon.
