Griselda 'The Cocaine Queen' Blanco, the infamous Columbian drug trafficker, was assassinated in her hometown of Medillin (also home to Pablo Escobar), when two men on motorcycles rode up and sprayed her with bullets before speeding off--This was the method of assassination that Blanco was actually credited with inventing. We sure hope the irony wasn't lost on her in her final moments.
Why was she killed? Could it be in retaliation for the over 250 killings she'd ordered? Oh, I don't know, I suppose it's possible. Blanco reached her peak as one of the country's top crime figures in the 1980s when she was living a cocaine-fueled party lifestyle in Miami. It's something straight out of a movie. Though by the look of her mugshot, John Goodman might have to play her in the biography.
Blanco's tale reminded us of some of our other favorite 1980s drug kingpins. Check out the gallery to see how her story stacks up next to these works of fiction.
