Hollywood lost prolific actress Karen Black yesterday at the tender young age of 74. Pour one out, gents.
Ms. Black was known best for her early roles in the New Hollywood explosion of the late 60s and early 70s, breaking out as a acid-dropping hooker alongside Dennis Hopper in Easy Rider. She pretty much didn't stop after that trippy frolic in the New Orleans graveyard, acting extensively right up until her cancer diagnosis in 2010.
Not to get all grad school on you, but As far as I'm concerned, she's always been one of those character actresses attached to unstable and dangerously introspective men. Which is why she's been associated with idiosyncratic dudes like Hopper, Jack Nicholson, and Robert Redford. Alfred Hitchcock even cast her in his final film Family Plot. To get less grad school on you, she should probably should have gotten an award for living through that much blow and booze.
Most importantly to Egotastic, she was easy on the eyes. And since New Hollywood pretty much invented the cinematic nipple slip, Black broke plenty of ground as a sexy starlet. That's right, Karen Black was a nipslip pioneer. She was the James Brown of the nipslip. Wait. Let me try that again, she was the Thomas Edison of the nipslip. Karen Black: Godmother of Nipslip. There. That works.
