It used to be that I welcomed the coming of fall with open arms. Not because the temperature got cooler or the leaves started to change but because it meant the return of pumpkin flavored stuff. Pumpkin ale is delicious as is a pumpkin spiced latte. But then it started to be everywhere. Pumpkin this and pumpkin that. It soon just lost all of its appeal. Now the nail has been driven forever into the coffin of pumpkin spiced things. We all know and love Marshmallow Chicken Peeps. They are one of the staples of Easter time along with the resurrection of our Lord and savior Jesus and sales at Macy's. But now the company that makes Peeps has come out with three new flavors for fall and one of them is, of course, pumpkin spice. The Peep is pumpkin flavored and brown and has a white "fudge" bottom. Also new are the caramel apple and candy corn flavors. I haven't tried it yet but I'm pretty sure it is going to send me into a diabetic coma.
Which is not really the point. Peeps are hella full of sugar, but why do they have to further ruin pumpkin spice. I imagine it tastes like a cinnamon sugar bomb.
