That's may. Don't start with all the accusatory glares and bitching when you find we've oversold this a little.
Now, this year's PAX East is underway, and you know what that means. Exuberant nerdliness, toilets being left in questionable turdy condition and a lot of stupid-ass costumes. But besides that, it means some tasty new slices of video game goodness for us to chew on. First up is Shinji Mikami's upcoming survival horror, The Evil Within.
This is the game many are hoping will uphold those old ‘horror' sensibilities of yore. Resident Evil went far too gung-ho and actiontacular a while back, so what kind of spiritual successor has its creator got in store for us?
It's certainly ticking every goddamn box. A mental hospital? Blood-leaking dead guys everywhere? Hallucinations? A The Shining-esque wave of blood down the hallway? Suspense-y music? A weird mutant dude who doesn't seem too phased by taking several hot, steely bullets to the facial region? They're all here. It sure looks the part, but we've a while to wait before seeing how it plays. August 26, to be precise.
