Patton Oswalt is about as funny as watching paint dry. No entertainer has done the short end of the stick self-deprecating act better than George Costanza. Although Patton tries he’ll never be as good Jason Alexander’s character at swinging and missing at life. But maybe Patton can pull a Jim Carrey and switch from comedian to something more serious, like homicide detective. Patton’s wife Michelle McNamara was in the middle of writing a book about the Golden State Killer/East Area Rapist when she passed away. Oswalt paid another person to finish the book entitled I’ll Be Gone In The Dark. The perpetrator ending up being an ex-police officer who was apprehended recently after some DNA evidence led to his identification and now Oswalt wants credit on behalf of his wife. Just when you thought dead men tell no tales, her book kept a cold case somewhat hot.

Many of Michelle’s friends and family are a little pissed with the Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones, with one saying, “I’m going to try not to be angry, but they’re taking all the credit.” Patton isn’t convinced the police will ever give Michelle the credit she’s due, but that hasn’t stopped him from congratulating her on social media.

All in all the police are saying outside of relevancy in the public eye the book did not assist in the investigation. So Patton can stop patting himself on the back for speaking up. It’s noble to make sure your significant other is spoken for when they’re not able but unfortunately this was him missing the mark.
