As much as it may get William Shatner's goat, it seems that the one Star Trek captain everyone has wanted to see back in action is Patrick Stewart's Jean-Luc Picard. The captain of The Next Generation series has remained a fan favorite and his legend has only grown in the thirty years since TNG debuted, which is why CBS All Access is launching a new Star Trek series centered around Stewart's master tactician.
Star Trek: Picard finds the captain retired but obviously not able to stay out of the action. There are plenty of familiar faces along for the ride as well from his TNG co-stars like Brent Spiner, Jonathan Frakes, and Marina Sirtis, as well as other Star Trek characters he has yet to interact with like Jeri Ryan's Seven of Nine. I'm sure they'll have lots to talk about, what with Picard being turned into a Borg that one time.
If Star Trek: Discovery didn't convince every Trekkie in the galaxy to get a CBS All Access subscription, there's not a doubt in my mind that this will be the series that push those last holdouts over the cliff. Star Trek: Picard debuts on January 23, 2020, with nine weekly episodes to follow every Thursday thereafter.
