There's nothing quite as fun as seeing Nic Cage go whole hog after a role. Something he can really sink his teeth into and give it his all. 2018's been a great year to catch this on display in films like Teen Titans GO! to the Movies where he voiced Superman, as well as Panos Cosmatos' brilliantly surreal Mandy.
Now we can close out 2018 with one last hammy performance from the master of that non-kosher delicacy, as Cage will be giving voice to Spider-Man Noir in the animated adventure Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Cage has already promised a take on the character that's in line with old Hollywood legends like Bogey, Jimmy Cagney, and Edward G. Robinson, but seeing him in action is next level. He kicks in at the 2:06 mark.
I've heard that Spider-Verse is fantastic and absolutely worth seeing, particularly if you can do so while herbally enhanced, if you catch my drift readers in Washington, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, and all the other places where such a skunky smelling drift might be caught. Shit, even folks in Utah can catch a matinee if they've got a card.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its hammy Nic Cage—though not Spider-Ham, that's John Mulaney—hits theaters this coming Thursday night, December 13.
