We knew Superman and Batman would be teaming up on screen some time in the next few years, whether it was in some sort of Justice League movie or in a Batman reboot.
Man of Steel has just been making Warner Brothers too much money, and it had some pretty noticeable Wayne Enterprises easter eggs. So when Warner Brothers made it official at Comic-Con over the weekend, confirming that Man of Steel 2 is in the works, that Henry Cavill would reprise his role as Kal-El, and that he'd be joined on screen by the Dark Knight himself, everyone was like, um, yeah, I know.
But today Man of Steel director Zack Snyder dropped a real bomb on us. Yes, Batman would be in the next Superman flick, but he and Supes won't be teaming up to battle villains together. They'll be battling each other.
'Let's face it,' Snyder said in a statement released by Warner Brothers. 'It's beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest superheroes in the world.'
As for who will be playing the 'new Batman'—well, we don't know that yet, but it probably won't be Vin Diesel. The main takeaway here is that, come summer 2015, it's Superman vs. Batman, motherf*ckers.
