Asking someone out is rough. It takes me hours just to work up the courage to passive aggressively text someone to ask their friend out for me. So for this guy to do this on air takes big brass balls. Unfortunately they'll be blue brass balls as it doesn't look like her answer is 'yes.' His backtracking at the end is priceless.
