Who could forget the gorgeous Linda Harrison's character Nova from the original 1968 Planet of the Apes? You know, the mute girl that Chuck Heston basically claimed for himself the minute he laid eyes on her. Well guess what? We now get to discover her origin story via the upcoming War for the Planet of the Apes! Even more exciting, this clip reveals how she gets her name! Did you guess she got it from the classic Chevy Nova? No, really, that's what it is. Just watch!
See? I told you she got it her name from a Chevy Nova. Man that's dumb. I mean, that's a cool and interesting twist on this classic character that none of us saw coming.
I kid the Planet of the Apes movies. In all honesty, this rebooted version of the classic franchise has delivered two rock solid flicks whose incredible visual effects are a wonder to behold. They may not pack the rip-roaring fun of the original films, but they definitely carry on the series time honored tradition of using man vs apes as an allegory for any number of social injustices you could possibly pin on that relationship. Fingers crossed that War for the Planet of the Apes wraps things up in similarly awesome fashion. The film hits theaters on July 14.
