When Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz announced last week that he was releasing a re-edit of season four, he included in the announcement a rather surprising statement...
...a new fifth season of Arrested Development will be coming back to NETFLIX soon. Like real soon. Like, if you knew when, you would not be wrong to be thinking "why are we all just hearing this now?"
As it turns out, that date he was keeping secret was less than a month away. Apparently they managed to shoot season five in secret and are releasing it in its entirety on May 29.
It looks like the backbone of this season will involve Portia de Rossi's Lindsay running for congress on the strength of her maiden name alone, because lord knows why else would she be doing this?
It's also not present in this first trailer, but Jason Bateman told Entertainment Weekly that the fifth season would be a murder mystery surrounding the death of Liza Minnelli's Lucille 2...
“The central spine of that story of is the death of Liza Minnelli’s character, and a bit of whodunit, who may have done it, who had something to do with it. That’s sort of a central thread around which [creator Mitch Hurwitz] is going to braid in all the colorful plot complications that he knows how to do.”
All interesting stuff and all binge worthy. So clear your calendars for that weekend, it's gonna be a long one!
