One of life's unanswerable questions, it seems, is will there ever be a final Rambo movie? Part of me wants to believe that the upcoming Rambo: Last Blood truly will deliver on its titular promise and give Stallone's second iconic creation the send-off it deserves. Another part of me then remembers that I more or less though 2008's Rambo already did give the title character a fitting goodbye.
Then again, you could totally see Stallone getting the big emotional death scene like Hugh Jackman got in Logan, only for Marvel to then buy up the rights to the character and make him regret that decision. Rambo might be asked to join the MCU at some point, stranger things have happened yo.
Man, that 2008 Rambo is something, though, isn't it? A soldier spears a child and then javelins him into a burning house. Stallone shoots someone with a chain gun at close range. And of course, there's that famous edit they had to make where Rambo decapitates a soldier with his knife in one smooth movement. So smooth, in fact, that it looked in the angle used in the trailer like he punched a dude's head clean off his body.
Fingers crossed this truly is Last Blood, and we'll find out for sure on September 20.
