One of the hardest things for any fan is letting go of something and realizing that it's no longer aimed at your own sensibilities, but rather at those of people substantially younger than you. Such is the realization I had while watching this new teaser for Dreamworks and Netflix's newest cartoon revival, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.

As a die-hard He-Man and She-Ra fan since I was four, I've slowly but surely come to the realization that if and when they reboot those characters, it'll be aimed at kids and not adults. And that's fine. It was always aimed at kids. I could complain about the animation style and even the bastardization of the show's title, but that's completely and totally missing the point.

This She-Ra reboot looks like something off of Cartoon Network or some other channel that kids love and it'll grab their young imaginations right away, I imagine. The fact that I don't have any interest in it isn't a knock at the show or its quality, but rather a statement from a fan that has accepted his fate in this particular fandom.

Thankfully no one can take away my He-Man and She-Ra Filmation Complete Series DVDs, another part of fandom that people seem to overlook too often. If you or your young ones might be interested, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power debuts on Netflix on November 16, just in time for some Thanksgiving binging!
