TV & FILM

Remember a while back when there was going to be a rumored Men in Black/21 Jump Street crossover/spin-off and it sounded like the worst idea anyone's ever had? Thankfully it died not long after it was announced, but now a new project set in the world of Men in Black has arisen and it opens in less than two years.
According to Deadline, Sony Pictures has announced that a new film is on its way that is set in the world of the Men in Black films, but will not feature the established characters played by Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. Iron Man and Transformers: The Last Knight writers Matt Holloway and Art Marcum will be handling scripting duties for the film which is set to open on May 19, 2019. Deadline describes the film thusly...
Holloway & Marcum have scripted a contemporary sci-fi pic about the black-clad secret force that protects earth from the alien scum of the universe, focusing on new characters chasing villains that put the picture on more of a global scale than the two previous films. The ambition is akin to the way that Jurassic World rebooted and expanded that franchise.
Great, so Jurassic World set in the Men in Black universe. Can't wait. Sounds like a great idea. Oh, no it doesn't, it sounds almost as awful as the Jump Street crossover. Jeez, somebody get Channing Tatum on the phone.
