Once upon a time, when gaming consoles first got their hard drive space, the wonders of adding content to already-released games had everybody daydreaming of what could be. It would be just like the PC experience where add ons and maybe even full mods will give your favorite games new life forever. It took awhile but we're finally arrived at the point where there's enough potential profit for gamemakers to put enough awesome stuff in the original game and enough newness in some over-the-top add on content that we're getting two full fledged, yet familiar experiences.

Activision rolled out a pair of off duty baseball players in Evan Longoria and Matt Cain to get to know and do the dance for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and the Revolution DLC pack. What do the Tampa Bay infielder and San Francisco pitcher have to do with a futuristic military shooter? Nothing other than they play these games just like you do. And with that, here's what World Series champion Cain had to say.

Egotastic: What are some of the of the field perks of being a World Series champion?

Matt Cain: It kind of opens doors a little bit and you get to do things like this. You get to see what goes on behind the scenes of a lot of different places. It's pretty nice to be able to meet some of the guys that are able to put some of these things together. It's neat to see the hard work some of these guys put into this stuff.

Egotastic: What kind of other things have you been able to do?

Cain: Well, this is awesome. But we're able to kind of sneak behind the scenes at Six Flags down in the Bay Area. Get up close and see the elephants and see the lions, feed the lions. Things like that. Some of those things that you'll cherish forever.

Egotastic: How has seeing Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Revolution DLC up close like this changed your gaming habits?

Cain: It tells me that I need a lot of work. A lot of work. These guys, in a way, are kind of the professionals of what they do. You put a lot of time into it, you're gonna get good at it. It kind of shows. It's one of those things where if you want to do it, you've got to put some time into doing it.

Egotastic: Having somebody like you coming out to talk about the add-on content for a game is a pretty big deal. What is it about the new material that's impressed you the most?

Cain: How real everything was. Everything really made sense. Like Longoria was saying, he was on one of the gondolas (Downhill?) and they killed him. Little things like that. It's just cool how everything goes together now. You can't shoot your way through some of the levels. You've got to know them and everything really is realistic.

Egotastic: How do you balance being a gamer now with being the best player on the best team in baseball?

Cain:  I think for me I'll probably have to stick to making sure that what I do on the field I do it a little bit better than what I do gaming-wise. Let's keep that sharp.
