In honor of the wayward criminals of the comedy, Masterminds, in theaters September 30, we're taking a look at some of our world's most inept, clumsy, and dumb-ass criminals.
One thing that people take very seriously nowadays is an active shooter situation. Unfortunately they have become a regular occurrence. Most buildings have drills for that sort of thing. The cops are also really careful about people bringing weapons to the park. I had some friends who were arrested once for using lightsabers in Prospect Park. No, they didn't arrest them for being huge nerds but rather because they were causing a disturbance. The same thing went for young Anthony Berden who was arrested in Florida, ('natch), after he showed up at a park in a full dinosaur costume and an air rifle that looked like the real thing. The dinosaur was dressed in tactical SWAT gear for some reason. It seems that Anthony was there for a flash mob but it looks like he couldn't find his friends. The cops, thinking his gun was real tackled and disarmed him.Â
They charged him with disturbing the peace and "wearing a mask while committing an offense in a public park", which I didn't know was a crime. What was he thinking? Cops will shoot anyone that they suspect of having a weapon especially if he's wearing a mask. That he was dressed like a dinosaur only made him an easier target for getting shot.Â
