Mark Sanchez will remain the starting quarterback for the New York Jets, head coach Rex Ryan told the team today. Sanchez got yanked in Sunday's win over Arizona after generating zero points and throwing three picks. Greg McElroy came on in relief and led the Jets to a TD and a time killing long drive late in the fourth to seal the win.
For some reason people are still waiting anxiously to see if Tim Tebow or McElroy will be the number two guy for the game. I guess it matters because it looks like Sanchez might be on a short leash. Even though he's been mostly terrible all season, Sanchez reportedly has the backing of the coaching staff. Yesterday I mentioned that owner Woody Johnson reportedly wants McElroy to start, so maybe this is Ryan's way of trying to ensure he gets fired. Dammit, this just makes me want to watch the Jets and Jaguars game.
